A hot brew of coffee<\/p><\/div>\n
In crafting standards, I’m very new to blogging about card making, a craft that I have absolutely fallen in love with. When traveling, I’m blogging about being out in the field on some exotic location, photographing wild animals (see slideshow above). But . . . when I’m home, I’m in my spacious craft room, a converted game room, stamping and die cutting, my way to a happy place.<\/p>\n
I’m excited that for once I came up with my own idea for a card. Normally, I find cards on Pinterest that get my creative juices flowing. I add my personal touch. A few days ago, while searching the internet, I found this funny saying about coffee (I would give credit where credit is do but it did not have a signature). I thought how cute so . . . here’s my original card using this saying.\u00a0I\u00a0stamped and die cut the mug\/steaming smoke from Papertrey Ink’s Warm Happiness stamp and die set. I used yellow\u00a0Copic’s Y15 and Y19 to color the coffee mug trying my best to use blending techniques but let’s face it, I’m terrible at blending. I added the cute funny face from Your Next Stamp’s Create a Character, and added Nuvo Black drops to give the eyes dimension. Neehah Desert Storm 80 lb. cardstock for the A2 base (5.5″ x 4.25″) \u00a0with a 1\/4″ cut away DSP layer (in my stash).<\/p>\n
On Bazzill Butter Mint cardstock (5 x 3.75″), I stamped\u00a0the\u00a0hello<\/em>, from Papertrey Ink’s Heart-2-Heart #4 stamp, and the cute coffee saying\u00a0was made with Hero Arts Fanciful Swirl Alphabet and Numbers. This is such a great stamp set for making up your own sentiments. It adds a whimsical look. Its easy to use if you take your time. A little wrap of Darice’s natural twine around the front panel, I mounted the yellow mug with thin 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives on Bazzill Butter Mint cardstock, layered the DSP, and BOOM, its LIVE! For the inside card saying I used SU Perfect Blend. I randomly stamped circles and splashes to replicate “spills” from Papertrey Ink’s Drips & Dribbles, adding another coffee mug, all in Ranger Distress Oxide Walnut Stain. I know many stampers do not have an inside sentiment. Personally, I like an inside saying. I think it completes the card.<\/p>\n Disclaimer: I purchased all my own supplies. Its expensive to do card making.
